Yes, we love celebrating the minor holidays - with hats and bow ties and suspenders and glasses...all of it, especially in March when there's not much going on.  We had corned beef and cabbage followed by the most delicious Shamrock Shakes.  Happy Saint Paddy's Day!

Anders was Nana the dog in Peter pan, and Nana's character is know for her protective and maternal nature often expressed through actions rather than words.  (a lot like Anders!)  He was also a very fierce pirate.  Morgan was Wendy and she was absolutely a perfect Wendy.  What a fun and delightful play for them to be a part of!  

 

College Visits Round 2

Kuba has started on his college visits.  It's so complicated, this process of choosing. He has already looked at UVM and Middlebury. 
This round was a group of 5 schools in NY, NJ, and Connecticut.

Skidmore, Bard, Wesleyan, Vassar and Connecticut College.

Most are smaller colleges - about two thousand students.
All were nice, but who knows!  It's all about the package he gets isn't it?

Kuba's Very Merry Show #?

Kuba had a minor, ensemble role; a jock this time.

He had his hair styled by the costume person at VMT 

and quite honestly, and according to him, it was fire.  

He had one short solo, and many scenes in the background.

Their Love is God?  Yes, the kids love of theater and of each other, 

that's what's God.

T W E N T Y ! 

We had a sweet birthday party for Anders.  He asked for it to be small this year.  Kuba was at rehearsal, so it was Anders, Morgan, Lea, Dameon, and us for dinner and games. 

It’s amazing how quickly time flies. You think there’s a lot of transformation in a human body from birth to age ten until you look at the next decade.  Ten to twenty is just as significant! You zoom from child to adult in a wink of an eye. There is so much change in a body and life as you go from elementary school to middle school to high school to college, and you grow like a million inches, grow facial hair, get a strong jawline, mature socially and emotionally, and poof - your a grown-up person.  I could write a book filled with the many wonderful things about Anders!

How lucky are we that we get to be in this life with Anders? I can't wait to see what the third decade brings.  I made a movie of  his second decade and you can see it by clicking below.

Big Birthday Weekend in the Big Apple

We had a big birthday weekend for Anders 20th.

Two Broadway shows, SIX and HADESTOWN, and we loved them both so much.

Lots of walking in the rain, lots of NY pizza and lots of fun.

Third Time's a Charm!

  

We got married for the third time....yup, you read that right.  First was on October 6, 2004 and it was our civil union right before Anders was born.  Marriage wasn't yet legal.  Then we had a big ceremony and celebration on September 3, 2006 with family and friends at Rockpoint.  On December 30, 2024 we got legally married.  I  like to call it our Haiku wedding.  We read haiku's to each other, to the boys, and to our families.  It was pretty awesome!!!  We ended with a very pretty cake and champagne.

A delicious New Years day meal with friends....followed by a special New Years Cake!

Kuba was Hades in HADESTOWN this past week and he was awesome, 

the show was awesome!  SO many friends had key roles and the whole ensemble cast make it an epic experience.  I'm so sad it's over! Bjorn, Susan, Sandy, Peter, Jen and Kaj, Barbro and Dave, and more came specifically to see Kuba.  He did NOT disappoint!  In fact, he held the role and captured the audience so effectively!

Happy New Year!

You can tell we are growing up as a family because it's the first year we haven't celebrated all together. There were three different things going on this New Year's Eve. Anders and Morgan had a night on the town, Kuba had a big party and sleepover with his friends, and Anna and I had drinks with friends and then returned home to celebrate the turn of the year.
