Zen moment- I am chopping onions in the kitchen and I hear Anders upstairs playing piano with his piano teacher, kuba sitting quietly in the living room, and the backyard door is open and I hear my chickens clucking and feel the sun shining on such a hot beautiful end of summer morning. The F A I R
The fair is one tradition in our family that I love almost as much as the boys do. This year we scored a coupon which allowed us unlimited rides, admission, and parking for the whole carload. So Anders friend Ben came along for the fun. Fair highlights this year: rides, rides, and more rides. (And Anna and I getting sick after spontaneously deciding to go on the spinning "sizzler". A mistake for anyone over 12.

FREE
Yes. The boat was free. Yes. It is 45 years old. Yes. It is sitting in our driveway. Yes it runs. Yes. It does need some work. Yes. It is super vintage exciting. Yes. All the kids around think it's better than sliced bread. Yes. I don't think we quite know what we've gotten ourselves into. Yes. All of it, yes.
The First Day Walk
A great tradition that has been happening for years now is the great walk to school on the first day. Kids have been gathering in the park near our house and then they all walk together. This year was a great big group which made it all the more fun. I just keep thinking about how lucky they all are.
