I came home tonight to this note taped to the door and my youngest son dancing around in the entryway gushing with joy about my arrival. He was animated, funny, attention seeking and I, of course, could tell he was trying to keep me distracted from something happening in the other room. I played along and in about five minutes I was allowed into the dining room, where the boys had set the table for dinner and Anders had lit about ten candles, a very special choice indeed. Why? I don't know. It was just that kind of a day. Maybe it was the joie de vivre of it being the first of April that made all the difference in the world. Maybe they're beyond eager for Spring to really get here, so creating their own joy in the meantime helps with the eternal waiting. Either way, it was a lovely evening at home and proved that some days really are special. Sometimes for no particular reason at all.
