Yes. The boat was free. Yes. It is 45 years old. Yes. It is sitting in our driveway. Yes it runs. Yes. It does need some work. Yes. It is super vintage exciting. Yes. All the kids around think it's better than sliced bread. Yes. I don't think we quite know what we've gotten ourselves into. Yes. All of it, yes.
A document of our life with Anders and Kuba, filled with photo's, moments, and stories which capture the essence of our life. Who knew that life with two boys and two moms could be this good, or this nutty?

The First Day Walk
A great tradition that has been happening for years now is the great walk to school on the first day. Kids have been gathering in the park near our house and then they all walk together. This year was a great big group which made it all the more fun. I just keep thinking about how lucky they all are.

New Sneakers
Today was the first day of the new school year ~ second grade and fifth grade, shoe size 4.5 and 6.5. We always start off the year with a new pair of sneakers and here they are in all their bright primary glory. Oh- and then there's the happy kids who get to inhabit them.

Pyramid - Beach Style
This was the second year we went with family friends and
the four boys played so well together. Swimming, surfing, building, digging, and playing full on resulted in long days, exhausted boys, and just oh, so much boy fun.
Whale Watch #3
This was our third whale watch, but our first sunset whale watch and without a doubt it was the best we've been on. We saw tons and tons of whales - breaching, spouting, playing, flipping, and tale slapping. We could see the underbellies, the eyes, the barnacles, the flippers, and the fins. We followed a mama humpback and her baby for quite some time. We even got to watch one whale in particular slapping his tale for such a long time that I was able to get a long video of it which I'll try to add to this post.
F O U R
We walked out on the jetty again at the tip of the cape just as the tide was breaking over the rocks. It's one of our favorite things to do and was on our bucket list for this vacation, along with: seal beach, ptown, surf beach, collecting sea creatures, Spiritus pizza, and whale watching. We got it all in!
One Up, One Down
We tried to get a group photograph with all of us, including our friend Susan, jumping in unison. This was the result. One up, one down which cracked me right up! Anders in all of his eagerness kept taking off just a wee bit before the rest and our timing was just this....one up, one down over and over.
Surf's Up
Our last beach day on the cape was pretty much mind blowing fantastic. We went to Head of the Meadow and it was just the perfect choice. There was a combination of light, 180 degree horizon line, colors of the sea and sky, gentle waves, and an impending rain that created a perfect storm for photographs.
The two of them were fearless in the waves and they surfed on their boogie boards for hours and hours. There was a sand bar that allowed for long steady satisfying surfs onto the shore and truly made them beyond happy. They were so full of astonishment, pride, delight and joy that it even made me giddy. I waded out with my camera more than once to capture their bliss.
The Color Orange and a Thousand Metal Balls
The boys got some metal magnetic balls in Cambridge. They worked hard to create this hexagon.
These are their proud happy faces.
