This summer our vacation consisted of a trip to the cape and a trip to Maine.
The sky was everywhere we went. Most days blue, a lot of days sprinkled with clouds, and perhaps only once it was totally cloud covered. I couldn't stop looking at the sky - the big expanse of a horizon. The tints and shades of blue depending on time of day or upon the light, the size and shape and yes, whiteness of the clouds, always drew me in.

The ocean was a toy this year for sure.
Both boys could NOT get enough.
Swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, wading, floating, you name it, they were in it.
This was the year that surfing the waves hit a new high and the boys really nailed sailing into the shore - arms extended like giant wings, smiles wide, making the trip in even better.
THANK GOD there were no sharks while we were there.

The lake took on a whole new meaning for us this year - Moosehead lake in particular. WHY? Because the cabin rental in Maine was anything but relaxing or comfortable to be in.
To compensate, we spent a ton of time on the water. The dock became our escape and our home base - relaxing, swimming, boating, sitting, and just viewing the lake happened on the dock.

YES, we played with rocks.
A lot. All of us.
Every chance we could.
We couldn't get enough of them.
Who needs toys when you have rocks?
Eh gads, the sea grass. Nothing like it. Nothing as green.

As always, the cousins were a big part of our summer vacation.
Hannah and Lea spent the week in Maine with us
and after almost 13 years vacationing together we've gotten a groove.
