The Thanksgiving Play

Anders was in his first college play and it was so good! He made a great punk rocker, a kindergarten turkey and a dramatic teen.   He was in the ensemble along with seven others.  They would interrupt the "story" being told by  the four main characters, with a reenactment of a true Thanksgiving performance put on by some school somewhere in the country.  The juxtaposition of these little snippets and the drama taking center stage was interesting and poignant.  I wasn't allowed to take video or photographs, but was able to get these from a professional photographer credited below.
"Absurd assumptions and good intentions collide in this Broadway hit comic satire by groundbreaking Native American playwright, Larissa FastHorse. In it, four well-intentioned and terminally “woke” teaching artists scramble to create a culturally sensitive and historically accurate Thanksgiving play for kids that endeavors to somehow celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month."

Young, Wild, and 17!

It was a wonderful birthday weekend for the newly minted 17 year old.
A game party with friends, a second game party playing Blood on the Clock Tower - which is Kuba's dream come true.  Then, more birthday celebrations....waffles, family, friends, gifts.

I could write a book about Kuba, telling all of the beloved things about him.
And I will.  Stay tuned for a more detailed post.
In the meantime - hurrah for 17!!!

6 Little Pumpkins

Fall is here, so we added some pumpkin decor to our home.
Kuba reached out the bathroom window with his very long arms.

A Walk in the Woods

It was a beautiful weekend and we managed to go for a long walk around Indian Brook Reservoir.
The green, the light, the temperature - all perfect.

We went to a fabulous art exhibit yesterday at the Kent in Calais, Vermont -  Illuminated Worlds by Vermont artists.
Certainly, Kuba was the brightest most illuminated part of this fantastic show.

Riding to School

Each day this year I have ridden my bicycle to school.
7;30 am and 4:30 pm
It's been giving me so much JOY.
So much strength.  So much gratitude.
I feel luckier than ever to pedal my way to and from work everyday.
On bad days, I use the lowest gear and pump like hell,
and I usually feel way better by the time I enter the house.
Heaven.

Spectacularly FUN Fall Weekend in the Adirondacks

We went camping with some friends in the Adirondacks. Some spectacular friends, who had magnificent singing voices for around a campfire.  We used all the boats at the campground, row boats, canoes, kayaks, motor boats, and even a little sunfish.  We ate great food, hiked, played on the water and caught a lot of fish!  It was stunning any way you looked at it.
Grateful for amazing people in our lives.

Beauty and the Beast?

Kuba and Anders are pretty fantastic, wouldn't ya say?

Oh, Brother!

It was a busy summer with the boys working all the time, so when we had time together it was a big deal.  Here are just some outtakes from the summer.

The Summer of our Joyful Gardens

It was such a fantastic gardening year- front and back.  Everything was lush and verdant green.
Sunflowers and corn in the front, sunflowers and zinnias in the back.  So much to enjoy!

And weeks later, the gardens are still going strong!!
