The Fledgling

we nurture our young

time to leave the nest and fly

anders spread your wings

The official drop off date was August 18th.  Anders is officially a Catamount at the University of Vermont. He took part in an outdoor adventure pre-orientation program where he worked with other freshman doing trail maintenance on the Catamount Trail. It was a great way to meet people and to begin his amazing journey of college life.  He came back from that happy and officially moved into his dorm with his friend and roomie, Sylvan. It has been almost two full weeks since he's left and ALL IS WELL.  I'd like to repeat that, ALL IS WELL!  He is happy and making his way.  Some signs of immediate success are:

  • Calling while doing laundry to ask if he could wash his new leather work gloves
  • Calling and saying he needed a broom and dust pan for his room.
  • Making connections with his professors and finding out his professor is also an ant nerd.
  • Sitting up front in his large classes.
  • Sounding excited about most of his courses.
  • Found an iclicker on Craigslist Vt that he needed for a class.
  • Hanging out in a hammock on the green, reading.
